Book of Dead, Reactoonz and Fire Joker come from the same studio, but they offer quite different games. Book of Dead builds its bonus around an expanding symbol. Reactoonz fills a grid with clusters of aliens, while Fire Joker keeps things compact with three reels and a respin feature.

Open a demo above to find the paytable and check how its features work. In Book of Dead, for example, look at when the selected symbol expands during free spins. A short run of wins or losses tells you nothing about how a later real-money session will turn out.
On your phone, check whether the paytable is easy to read and the stake controls are comfortable to use. If you later look for the game at a casino, check its mobile lobby too: the browser and app may offer different selections.
Our Play’n GO slot reviews
Book of Dead, Reactoonz or Fire Joker?
Start with the layout. Do you prefer following a payline across the reels, or watching new symbols fall into a changing grid?
| Game | Format | Main feature |
|---|---|---|
| Book of Dead | Reels and paylines | An expanding symbol during free spins |
| Reactoonz | 7×7 grid with cluster wins | Cascades and Gargantoon features |
| Fire Joker | Three reels | Respin of Fire and a multiplier wheel |
Book of Dead: watch the expanding symbol
In the original Book of Dead, three scatter symbols trigger a free spins round with ten spins. Before the feature starts, one ordinary symbol is selected to become the special expanding symbol for that sequence.
Expansion has a condition: it must produce an additional prize on an active payline. The selected symbol does not simply expand every time it appears. Once expanded, matching symbols can pay without sitting on adjacent reels.
Our Book of Dead guide goes into the rules in more detail. Check the full title in the casino lobby, too: Book of Dead GO Collect is a separate game.
Reactoonz: clusters replace paylines
Reactoonz uses a cluster pays system on a 7×7 grid. A group of at least five matching aliens forms a win. Winning symbols disappear and new ones drop into the gaps, so further winning clusters can form during the same round.
Those clusters also charge the Gargantoon feature. The action continues within the grid as symbols fall, wilds appear and features alter the layout. You are following a sequence of changes within the round, rather than just checking where the reels stopped.
Fire Joker and the Respin of Fire
Two reels are filled with stacked symbols, but there’s no winning payline. This is the setup that triggers Fire Joker’s Respin of Fire: the filled reels stay put and the third spins again.
A screen filled with the same symbol activates the Wheel of Multipliers. This gives the compact layout its main twist: filling the whole screen matters as well as completing individual paylines.
The Rich Wilde and Reactoonz series
Following a familiar character is another way to explore Play’n GO games, although a shared name does not guarantee shared rules. Rich Wilde appears in both Book of Dead and Tome of Madness. The former uses paylines; the latter has a grid, cascading symbols and a portal feature.
The studio also groups games into series such as Reactoonz, Moon Princess and GEMIX. Treat these as routes through the catalogue, then check the individual title. A sequel may change the bonus features or layout enough to give the gameplay a different feel.
Moon Princess takes an anime-inspired approach, with three princesses whose abilities affect the symbols. The original slot uses a 5×5 grid and cascading wins. Its character-led graphics offer a different visual style from the creatures in Reactoonz, even though both are grid-based online slots.
For comparisons with other studios, our casino game providers guide explains the wider choice of casino software and games.
About Play’n GO
Play’n GO was founded in 2005 and has Scandinavian roots. The developer makes online casino games and supplies them to operators. Your deposits and withdrawals are handled by the casino offering those games.
The Play’n GO Holding AB group had net sales of around SEK 1.86 billion in 2025, according to Ratsit’s financial summary. The figures below cover the group, rather than the Swedish parent company alone.
| Group figure | 2025 |
|---|---|
| Net sales | SEK 1,855.8 million |
| Operating profit (before interest and tax) | SEK 911.1 million |
| Employees | 703 |
Play’n GO licences and regulation
In Great Britain, Play’n GO Malta Limited, account 55949, holds active Gambling Commission permissions for remote Gambling Software and Game Host (Casino) activities. The register also lists remote and non-remote Gaming Machine Technical Software permissions.
In Malta, the same company holds MGA/B2B/225/2012, a B2B Critical Supply Licence covering Type 1 casino gaming. Play’n GO (Gibraltar) Limited holds Gibraltar licence RGL No. 131, according to the studio’s licences and certification page.
That page also lists licences or supplier registrations in markets including Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Michigan and Connecticut. Separately, Play’n GO lists jurisdictions where it supplies certified content; game certification is not the same as holding a local supplier licence. These permissions concern Play’n GO’s supply and hosting activities. The casino where you open an account needs its own operator licence.
Why the RTP can differ between casinos
There is no single RTP for the whole Play’n GO catalogue. The studio supplies games in multiple return-to-player configurations, so percentages quoted in slot reviews may not match the versions offered by a particular online casino.
Read the information or help screen in the game you have actually opened. If it gives a different figure from a review, use the figure for that casino’s version when comparing it with another version of the same title.
A slot with 96% RTP does not promise to return £96 from your £100. That percentage is a theoretical average across a vast number of rounds. Your own results can vary widely. Volatility describes the pattern of win sizes and frequency, but neither figure tells you when the next win will come.
Finding Play’n GO casinos in the UK
When comparing casino sites, use the games search or provider filter to find the exact title you want. A casino can carry Play’n GO games without carrying the studio’s entire catalogue. Finding Book of Dead in a lobby does not establish that it also has every Reactoonz sequel or a newly announced release.
The casino handles your account, payments and any promotional offer. Before depositing, check its current licence and the terms that apply to you. If an offer includes free spins, look for the named eligible game: free spins on one Play’n GO slot do not automatically work on another.
Game availability, bonus eligibility and RTP are separate checks.
Play’n GO questions
Are all games in a Play’n GO series played the same way?
No. Book of Dead and Tome of Madness both feature Rich Wilde, but use different winning systems. Read the rules for the full game title rather than relying on the character or series name.
Can I open a real-money casino account with Play’n GO?
Play’n GO supplies the games. Your real-money account is with the casino operator offering them. The free games on the studio’s website are demos.
Does Play’n GO only make slots?
No. Its table-game catalogue also includes titles such as Mini Baccarat and European Roulette Pro. Availability depends on the casino and market.
