Mental: watch the Fire Frames
The original Mental uses an uneven five-reel layout with three, two, three, two and three positions. Fire Frames split a symbol into two parts, while Enhancer Cells introduce further modifiers such as xWays, xNudge and xSplit.
Three Scorpion symbols trigger Autopsy Freespins, where the Fire Frames become sticky. Spider symbols are involved in the upgraded Lobotomy and Mental rounds. That changing bonus structure is the main detail to follow in the Mental game sheet. These rules are for Mental, not its sequel Mental 2.
Misery Mining: a small grid inside a larger mine
Only the central 3×3 area is open at the start of Misery Mining. The surrounding barriers can move as nearby xBombs explode, opening more of the 7×7 playing area. The board itself is part of the feature.
Its free spins also offer Mouse and Rat modes. Rat mode starts with three spins, with coin wagons or a Super Scatter resetting that number to three. The developer’s game sheet explains the two modes and the bombs’ effects. An expanding board should not be confused with a promise of a paying combination.
Road Rage: the colour of the car matters
Road Rage replaces the mine and horror setting with a traffic jam. Its cars are wilds, but they do different jobs. A yellow car increases other symbol sizes on its reel. Red and green cars travel in opposite directions, raising symbol multipliers along their route and leaving wilds at their starting and stopping positions.

What do xWays and xNudge mean?
The names recur across Nolimit City’s catalogue, but they are separate mechanics. xNudge centres on a nudging wild whose multiplier increases as it moves. xWays can expand the number of ways to win within a game that starts with a fixed number.
The developer’s mechanics guide uses Tombstone and Deadwood as xNudge examples, and Punk Rocker among its xWays examples. Each game applies the idea through its own rules. Recognising a feature name helps, but does not replace reading the paytable when moving to another slot.
About Nolimit City
Nolimit City develops online slots for casino operators. Its company history dates its founding to 2013 and its first game, Oktoberfest, to 2016. It is one of the studios covered in our guide to casino game providers.
Evolution completed the acquisition on 8 August 2022. The announced terms were €200 million upfront, with up to €140 million in additional payments tied to performance. Those are acquisition figures, not the studio’s annual revenue or profit.
Nolimit City’s licences
The Gambling Commission register lists Nolimit City Limited under account 52097, with active remote Gambling Software and Game Host (Casino) activities. Both are listed from 26 October 2018.
The company also lists Malta Gaming Authority licence MGA/B2B/299/2015, issued on 1 August 2018. These are supplier credentials. A casino accepting your deposit needs its own appropriate licence; it does not operate under the game developer’s licence simply because it offers the games.
RTP and volatility in Nolimit City slots
There is no single RTP for the whole studio. Even one title may have several configurations: Road Rage’s published options range from 92.17% to 96.03%. Check the percentage inside the version you are about to play, rather than assuming a figure from a review applies everywhere.
RTP is a theoretical long-run measure. A game set to 96% does not return £96 every time someone stakes £100. A short session can finish far above or below that proportion.
Volatility concerns the spread and size of results. Nolimit City rates Mental and Misery Mining more highly on its volatility scale than Road Rage. That is a useful distinction between these games, though Road Rage is still rated high. A long run without a win does not make the next spin due to pay.
Mobile play and UK feature differences
The three game sheets above specify HTML5 games for mobile and desktop. On a phone, a demo is a practical way to check whether the small symbols, feature explanations and stake controls are comfortable to use. Rotating the screen may make a busy playing area easier to read.
International game sheets also describe “Nolimit Bonus”, a feature-buy option. Do not expect that button in a British casino: the Gambling Commission has required operators to remove feature-buy facilities from slots. A demo showing a purchased bonus can therefore differ from the UK version.
For real-money play, decide what you can afford to lose before starting. A demo balance and a game’s maximum prize are poor guides to how long a cash balance will last.
