Bonanza: the mine, the cascades and GOLD
In Bonanza, a winning combination clears symbols from the reels, leaving room for replacements. Those replacements can form another win before the next paid spin. The horizontal reel above the main grid adds symbols to the middle reels.
The four scatter letters spelling GOLD trigger 12 free spins. During the feature, the win multiplier increases through winning cascades. That continuing multiplier is a different part of the game from the Megaways count, which describes the available symbol combinations.
White Rabbit Megaways: extending reels
White Rabbit changes the size of its playing area during free spins. Cake symbols add two symbol positions to the reels, taking the feature beyond the base game’s maximum number of ways.
The headline 248,832 ways belongs to that enlarged feature grid. During ordinary spins, the maximum is much smaller. Quoting the bonus figure alone gives the wrong impression of the base game.
Danger High Voltage: a choice of free-spin features
Danger High Voltage keeps its 4,096 ways fixed. The Electric Six song supplies the theme, while two free-spin choices give the bonus its character.
One feature selects a random symbol to act as a sticky wild. Once those wilds land, their positions remain occupied for the rest of the feature.
Extra Chilli Megaways: a relative of Bonanza
Extra Chilli takes Bonanza’s reactive Megaways format into a Mexican market setting. Its Dual Reactions system combines the main reels with the extra reel above them.
BTG’s published specification also describes a gamble on the number of free spins, with the possibility of increasing the round to 24. It adds a decision before the feature plays out. Available options depend on the version offered in your market.

About Big Time Gaming
Big Time Gaming is a slot developer based in Sydney, Australia. Nik Robinson founded the studio in 2011, and Bonanza followed in 2016. BTG was acquired by Evolution in 2021. Its company history also credits Huw McIntosh with technical leadership and Ian Schmidt with the creative side of the business.
When Evolution announced the acquisition, it put BTG’s 2020 revenue at €33 million and EBITDA at €29 million. The agreed purchase consideration was up to €450 million. Evolution’s announcement is a useful historical snapshot, not a statement of BTG’s current turnover. EBITDA is earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, rather than net profit.
Supplier licences and the Evolution group
The old UKGC entry for Big Time Gaming PTY Limited, account 38696, shows its software licence as surrendered on 23 March 2023. That BTG register entry should not be read as an active licence.
Within the wider group, Evolution Malta Holding Limited is listed under UKGC account 41655. Evolution’s licensing page separately lists a Swedish gaming software licence for BTG and identifies Evolution Gaming Malta Limited’s MGA licence as MGA/CRP/187/2010/01. These are different legal entities and permissions; the casino where you hold an account also needs its own relevant operating licence.
Big Time Gaming RTP and game versions
There is no single RTP for BTG slots. The current official game pages publish 96.00% for Bonanza, 96.42% for White Rabbit and 95.67% for Danger High Voltage. Extra Chilli’s page gives a range of 96.15%–96.41%.
Those are the developer’s published figures, rather than a check of every casino’s installed version. The information panel inside the game you open is the place to confirm its stated return to player.
When comparing online slots, keep the max win separate from RTP too. A max win is a payout ceiling, usually expressed as a multiple of the stake. It does not tell you how often that result occurs or which game is more likely to pay during a short session.
A slot with 96% RTP can still use up your balance without triggering its bonus. That percentage comes from the game’s maths over a huge number of spins; it cannot tell you how long £100 will last. Volatility helps explain the mix of smaller wins and rarer, larger payouts, but a losing run does not bring the next bonus closer.

Is Bonanza Falls the same game as Bonanza?
No. Bonanza Falls adds Megadozer to the free-spin feature. Bonus coins can release wilds, multipliers and extra free spins. It shares the Bonanza name and Megaways format, but it has its own rules.
Does a spin with more Megaways guarantee a win?
No. More ways means more possible symbol combinations on that spin. The symbols still have to form a paying combination under the game’s rules; even a spin showing the maximum number of ways can lose.
Why might Feature Drop be missing at a UK casino?
Feature Drop is a paid route straight into a bonus, described on BTG’s global pages for games such as Extra Chilli and White Rabbit. The Gambling Commission’s warning explains that operators removed feature buy-ins following its intervention. A global game page or demo can therefore show options that are absent from the UK casino version.
