Playtech slots offer several quite different types of bonus: collecting coin values, holding symbols through respins and playing for a linked progressive jackpot. This guide compares five games, explains those features and helps you find the right edition in a UK casino lobby. You can browse casino reviews and free demos near the top, then read about Playtech’s licensing, RTP and the difference between the developer and the casino holding your account.

Use the catalogue to find slots to play in demo mode, then open the paytable before spinning. In a Cash Collect slot, pay particular attention to which symbols collect prizes: a coin showing a value may need another symbol alongside it before anything is awarded. Demo play can help explain that sequence, but its results cannot predict a later session for real money.
On a phone, the small counters are worth a closer look. A collector with its own remaining-spins counter carries information that the main free-spins total does not. Rotate the screen if that makes the rules or counters easier to read.
Five Playtech slots and their bonus features
We have chosen these Playtech titles to explain how their features work, rather than to claim a ranking of the most popular games in Britain. The descriptions refer to the named editions. A Megaways or Cash Collect suffix can identify a different game, even when the main artwork looks familiar.
Buffalo Blitz: free spins and multipliers
The original Buffalo Blitz slot uses six reels, four rows and 4,096 ways to win. Its free games feature awards eight free spins for three scatters. Four award 15, five award 25, and six award 100 free spins.
During these free spins, wilds can carry 2x, 3x or 5x multipliers. When several multiplier wilds contribute to the same winning combination, their values are added. That detail is easy to miss if you only look at the largest multiplier on screen. The Playtech game sheet describes this original version; Buffalo Blitz Cash Collect and Buffalo Blitz Megaways have separate rules.
Sahara Riches: Cash Collect and numbered coins
In Sahara Riches: Cash Collect, the collector on reel five turns the values shown on cash symbols into a payout. The same collector also activates numbered free-spins symbols. A +7 symbol, for example, awards seven free spins when collected.
The 30 paylines handle ordinary symbol wins, while the collection feature deals with those cash and free-spins symbols. A diamond appearing with the collector opens a separate prize feature. A cash symbol on its own is not enough to award its displayed value.
Leprechaun’s Luck: Cash Collect counters
Leprechaun’s Luck: Cash Collect gives each collector its own three-spin lifespan during free spins. Collectors can land on any reel in that round and remain in position while their individual counters run down. Several can be active at once, with each collecting the eligible coin symbols.
According to Playtech’s feature guide, collecting a diamond awards one of four prizes: Mini, Minor, Major or Grand. These are fixed amounts tied to the bet. The names may resemble those on progressive jackpot slots, but here they do not describe a growing network prize pool.
Blue Wizard: holding crystal balls through respins
Six or more crystal balls trigger the Fire Blaze respin feature in Blue Wizard. The balls remain in place and the feature starts with three respins. Each new ball is held too, restoring the counter to three.
The feature ends when the available respins run out or the grid fills. Covering all 15 positions awards the Grand prize. Scatters trigger a separate free-spins round; the two bonus games use different symbols and counters. This description covers Blue Wizard, rather than Blue Wizard Megaways.
Age of the Gods: Wheels of Olympus
Within the Age of the Gods series, Wheels of Olympus uses gold symbols to trigger its wheel feature on a 30-line layout. Three or more adjacent gold symbols on one row trigger a wheel, with the number of symbols determining its size. Possible awards include cash, free games, a respin with added wilds or a spin of a larger wheel.
The separate Age of the Gods jackpot can trigger randomly after a main-game spin, including a losing spin. It does not require that gold-symbol combination. Keeping the wheel bonus and the mystery jackpot separate makes the rules much easier to follow.
Playtech jackpot slots: progressive jackpots and fixed prizes
In Wheels of Olympus, contributions from linked games feed four progressive levels: Power, Extra Power, Super Power and Ultimate Power. A triggered jackpot game awards one of those levels. Its amount can change as the network receives contributions.
Leprechaun’s Luck uses fixed, stake-based prizes instead. Before comparing two jackpot games, establish which system each uses. The word “Grand” alone does not tell you whether the prize grows, changes with your bet or requires a full bonus grid. The selected game’s jackpot help page should explain both the award and eligibility.
About Playtech software and casino games
Playtech was founded in 1999. Its business extends beyond online slots to software and services for the online gambling industry. This helps explain why its name can appear both beside a game and in information about the technology behind a casino.
Playtech offers branded slot games based on titles such as The Walking Dead and Gold Rush in its casino portfolio. A recognisable brand tells you the theme; the individual game rules tell you what its bonus actually does. Live casino and table games are other formats, with their own rules and bet types.
Our casino game providers guide explains the distinction between a studio, a platform and an operator. For the games in this article, your casino manages your account, deposits and withdrawals.
Playtech’s UK licence
The Gambling Commission register lists Playtech Plc under account 38516, with an active remote Gambling Software licence. That is a supplier-level check. The casino where you play must also hold the appropriate permission to serve customers in Great Britain; use the legal business name in its footer to check its own register entry.
RTP and the version you open
An RTP figure belongs to a particular game configuration. For Playtech slot games, read the percentage in the help panel of the version you are about to use instead of carrying a number across from another casino or a similarly named sequel.
RTP describes theoretical return over a very large volume of play. It cannot tell you how much a £20 session will return. Volatility concerns how unevenly wins are distributed, so neither figure is a countdown to the next bonus round.
Finding Playtech slots to play in the UK
Buffalo Blitz Cash Collect is a separate slot from the original Buffalo Blitz. A search for the shorter name can return both, so the suffix matters when matching a review to the game in a casino lobby. For new slots in a familiar series, the full title is the starting point for finding the right rules.
When a casino offers free spins as part of a casino bonus, those promotional spins are separate from the free-spins round built into a slot. If you are considering an offer for a particular title, check the eligible slot games before opting in. Its conditions determine when the free spins expire and whether free spin winnings carry wagering requirements. Keep those promotional terms separate from the game’s own paytable.
Decide what you can afford to lose before playing for money. Reaching that limit is a reason to stop, even if a bonus has not appeared.

Playtech FAQ
Which are the best Playtech slots to compare first?
Sahara Riches and Blue Wizard make a useful pair to compare. In Sahara Riches, a collector pays the cash values that land alongside it. Blue Wizard holds crystal balls through a respin round, adding new balls as they land. The difference is easier to follow when you look at those two bonus features side by side.
Can I play Playtech slots for free?
The demo catalogue uses virtual credits, so you can explore these online slot games without real-money stakes. Access can depend on your location and the individual demo. A displayed balance or win has no cash value.
Does every Playtech slot have a progressive jackpot?
No. The Age of the Gods slots discussed here have a linked jackpot feature, but jackpot rules depend on the exact title and version. Check whether the rules describe a linked progressive pool or a fixed prize, and read the conditions for triggering it.
Is Playtech the casino operator?
Seeing Playtech named as a game supplier does not identify the business managing your casino account. The operator’s legal name and licence details should be shown on the casino website.
