Casino Withdrawal Problems UK: What to Do Next

Written by Daniel Last updated: September 27, 2026

Where is your withdrawal now? That is the first thing to establish with the casino. “Pending” leaves you waiting for its checks; “sent” means you can ask for the payment details needed to trace the money.

This guide covers online casino withdrawal problems in the UK, from a pending payment to a refused withdrawal. The Gambling Commission (UKGC) rules and complaints route below apply to operators licensed to serve customers in Great Britain.

Start with the withdrawal status

Open the cashier or your transaction history and keep a screenshot of the withdrawal, including the amount, date and reference. Casinos use different status labels, so ask support what yours means if it is unclear.

Status shownWhat to establish
Pending or under reviewWhat check is outstanding, whether you need to do anything and when the casino will update you.
Approved or processingWhether the payment has been dispatched. Approval alone does not give you a bank arrival date.
Paid, sent or completedThe dispatch date, destination and payment reference, plus the expected arrival window.
Rejected, failed or cancelledThe reason, where the funds are now and what needs correcting before another request.

Why is my casino withdrawal still pending?

“Pending” tells you very little on its own. The request may be waiting for approval, a document review or a payment check. Look for a message in your account and check your email, including the junk folder, before contacting support.

Compare the time elapsed with the casino’s published withdrawal terms for your method. Does the quoted time start when you request the money or after approval? Is it measured in working days? A fast payment method does not tell you how long the casino will spend reviewing the request.

An overdue payout gives you a specific question for support: “The timeframe you quoted has passed. What is holding up my withdrawal?” Include the request date and keep any reply promising a further update.

When verification holds up a withdrawal

Identity checks are often called “know your customer”, or KYC. If you have already uploaded documents, ask whether they were received, accepted or rejected. A request to “verify your account” is not enough to tell you whether the problem is an unreadable file, an address mismatch or a different check altogether.

A rejection message should tell you what needs fixing. If it does not, ask support: “What was wrong with my upload, and which document do you need?” Once that is clear, use the casino’s secure upload channel and keep the receipt.

The Gambling Commission’s withdrawal guidance says an operator cannot make a withdrawal conditional on information it could reasonably have requested earlier. However, new circumstances can create a legitimate need for further checks, including checks related to fraud or money laundering. An earlier verification does not rule those out.

Why can’t I withdraw my winnings?

If you can’t withdraw your winnings, ask for the reason in writing. If the casino says you breached its terms and conditions, request the relevant clause and an explanation of how it applies to your account. Keep the version of the terms you relied on, together with the decision and any transaction records.

The regulator expects operators to explain withdrawal restrictions and decisions not to pay. There are limits to what they can disclose where doing so could prejudice a criminal investigation. If the casino decides to withhold winnings, keep that decision separate from any earlier message saying the payment was delayed. You will need the reason it gives when you challenge it.

Do the bonus terms apply to your own money?

Ask the casino to identify the balance affected and the bonus rules it is applying. Bonus winnings may carry wagering requirements, but that is different from money you deposited and winnings made with those funds.

Under the Commission’s rules on withdrawing your deposit balance, players must be able to withdraw that balance even while a bonus is active, subject to necessary regulatory checks. Bonus wagering requirements must not be imposed on it. Before you forfeit a promotion, ask exactly which bonus funds or winnings would be removed and how much cash would remain withdrawable.

Has the payment method caused the rejection?

If support identifies a card, bank account or wallet problem, ask which detail needs correcting and which withdrawal route the casino can use. Do not assume a method is suitable for withdrawals simply because it worked for a deposit. Tell support if the original card has expired or the bank account has closed.

Our casino payment methods guide explains the differences between deposit and withdrawal support. For an existing failed payment, get the route agreed with the casino before submitting it again.

The casino says it has paid, but nothing has arrived

A payment reference helps the receiving bank or wallet provider investigate a missing transfer.

The withdrawal ID in your account may mean nothing to your bank. Ask the casino for a payment reference the bank or wallet provider can trace, along with the amount, currency and date sent. Masked account or card details let you check where it went.

Once the quoted arrival window has passed, give those details to your payment provider. If it cannot locate the transfer, return to the casino with that response and ask its payments team to investigate. Keep both replies so the next person handling the case can see what has already been checked.

What to write to casino support

You can adapt the message below if you cannot withdraw your money. Fill in your details where the brackets appear, then send it through the casino’s support service. Keep a copy of the reply, including the transcript if you use live chat.

I requested a withdrawal of [amount] on [date] using [method]. The reference is [reference], and the status currently shows [status]. The published processing period is [period].

Please confirm what is preventing payment and whether you need anything further from me. If the funds have been sent, please provide the dispatch date, destination, payment reference and expected arrival date. If the withdrawal has been refused, please explain the reason and any term you are relying on.

Please also confirm when I should expect your next update.

How to escalate an unresolved withdrawal complaint

If support has not resolved an overdue payment, or you dispute the refusal, use the casino’s published complaints procedure. Check the email address or form it specifies so your complaint reaches the right team. State that you are making a complaint, explain the outcome you want and keep a copy. Include:

  • The withdrawal amount, request date and reference.
  • The status history and any missed deadlines.
  • Relevant support replies, terms and upload confirmations.
  • A short account of what remains unresolved.

The Commission’s complaints guide explains the information to provide. Ask the gambling business to confirm when it received your complaint.

Taking your complaint to an ADR provider

The operator’s internal complaints process should finish within eight weeks of receiving the complaint, including any internal escalation. You can reach a final response or deadlock earlier. A reasonable pause may apply if you fail to engage with the process, so respond to requests for information promptly. These are the Commission’s complaint time limits.

Eight weeks is not a normal withdrawal processing time. You do not need to wait eight weeks before raising an overdue payment with the casino.

If the dispute remains unresolved at that point, or you have an earlier final response ending the process, follow the referral instructions for the casino’s appointed Alternative Dispute Resolution provider. ADR is a free, independent service; the provider decides whether it can accept your case. It does not guarantee payment.

If waiting for the money is prompting you to gamble more, step away from play while you pursue the complaint. Our safer gambling page lists support and account-control options.

Casino withdrawal problems FAQ

Does “approved” mean the money is in my bank?

Not necessarily. Your account can show “approved” while you are still waiting for the money. The useful question for support is: “Has the payment been sent, and when should it reach my bank?”

Can I cancel a pending withdrawal to try again?

Operators licensed by the Gambling Commission must not offer a reverse-withdrawal option that lets you cancel a withdrawal and gamble the money again. If details need correcting, contact support about the existing request. See the reverse-withdrawal rule.

Can the Gambling Commission get my money back?

The Commission does not resolve individual disputes over gambling transactions. Start with the casino’s complaints process, then use its appointed ADR provider where your dispute is eligible. Reporting a suspected regulatory breach is separate from having your payment dispute adjudicated.
